Community Vision and Goals

Vision
Cultivate an institutional climate in which teaching and learning are highly valued, honored, and rewarded.

Mission
Enhance student learning by supporting faculty and staff members in their efforts to teach effectively.

Objectives

  1. Promote the development of teaching methods that are effective for a full variety of student learning styles.
  2. Provide forums to involve Otterbein community members in a continuing dialogue about effective teaching and learning.
  3. Provide human, financial, and informational resources to support and enhance teaching and learning.
  4. Enhance collegiality by providing positive environments to meet the needs of Otterbein community members for teaching and learning development.
  5. Support those initiatives and pedagogical approaches that are already strong at Otterbein and work to strengthen and expand on these.
  6. Help Otterbein community members stay abreast of current pedagogy research and support work in the scholarship of teaching and learning.

Eligibility
The Center for Teaching and Learning is open to anyone in the academic community interested in enhanced student learning through excellence in teaching.

Confidentiality
All consultations at the Center for Teaching and Learning are entirely confidential.

Voluntary Nature
Individual consultations with a consultant as well as participation in activities sponsored by the Center for Teaching and Learning are to be voluntary.
