Abdoulaye was a Gateway student from 2005-06. He was born in Mauritania but was raised in Senegal, West Africa. He speaks three different languages other than English-Wolof, Fulani, and French. He went to Walnut Ridge High School. His favorite subjects are English, Art, and Health. During his year at Otterbein, he played soccer on the college team.

Gloria was a Gateway student from 2005-06. She is from Sierra Leone, West Africa. She speaks one other language besides English, which is Krio. She graduated from Brookhaven High School, and she played one of her favorite sports there, tennis. Her favorite subjects are English, Physical Education, Sociology, and Psychology. She likes to spend her free time with her friends.

Halima was a Gateway student from 2005-06 and served as Student Ambassador. She is from Yemen. During the 2006-07 academic year she is pursuing a degree in Nursing at Otterbein.

Khadija was a Gateway student from 2005-06. She is from Mogadishu, Somalia, and has been in the United States for almost seven years. Besides her native language, she speaks English. Her favorite color is blue and her favorite movie is Rush Hour II. She likes to watch TV and listen to music in her free time. During the 2006-07 academic year she is pursuing a degree in Nursing at Otterbein.

Michelle was a Gateway student from 2004-05 and a Student Ambassador in 2005-06. She is from China and has lived in the US for almost seven years. Since the fall quarter of 2005 she has pursued her degree in Accounting (major) and Math (minor) at Otterbein.

Noor was a Gateway student from 2005-06. He is from Somalia.

Richard was a Gateway student from 2005-06. He is from Kumasi, Ghana, which is in West Africa. He has only been in the United States for about five years. Besides English, he speaks the common language that eighty percent of the population in Ghana speak, which is Twi. During the 2006-07 academic year he is pursuing a degree in Physics at Otterbein.

Semira was a Gateway student from 2005-06 and is currently a Student Ambassador. She was born in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, but her family came from Eritrea. Besides English, she speaks Eritrean, Arabic, and some Spanish. She graduated from Brookhaven High School in 2004 and attended Columbus State Community College for one year before coming to Otterbein. She likes all kinds of sports, and she also likes to read and dance. During the 2006-07 academic year she is pursuing a degree in Early Childhood Education at Otterbein.
