The Department of Life and Earth Sciences prepares students for careers in biology, plant science, molecular biology, environmental science, earth science, and various medical fields. We offer programs of study leading to majors in Life Science, Environmental Science, and Molecular Biology. We also cointribute to the interdepartmental Environmental Studies.
The five programs of study for a Life Science major are:
Environmental Science major is recommended for students preparing for graduate studies and positions with government agencies and private environmental firms.
Molecular Biology major is recommended for students preparing for graduate programs in molecular and cellular biology, professional programs (e.g. medical and veterinary schools) as well as positions in biotechnology.
Study and Work with Friends
Students in the sciences work closely together and get to know each other
well. Our department encourages an atmosphere of help and support, as
well as healthy competition. In fact, unlike some other schools where
the pressure to specialize is extreme, Otterbein encourages students to
diversify. Here you can get involved in sports, music, theatre, publications,
or any of our dozens of co-curricular activities.
