Sociology Undergraduate Student Association (SUGSA)
The Sociology Undergraduate Student Association (SUGSA) is a student organization that accepts students from all majors who are interested in learning about sociology, social work, social sciences and careers and those who desire to become more active in the community.
SUGSA meets several times a year and offers a paid, part-time work study position for the student facilitator who is elected annually. Typically, meetings offer the following opportunities:
- Social networking with students and departmental faculty
- Opportunities for community service
- The opportunity to organize campus events such as films, speakers or festivals which raise campus awareness about critical social issues. These activities are often done in collaboration with other student groups and departments across campus and serve to raise awareness of sociology on the campus
- Guest speakers and workshops on careers, graduate schools and international opportunities for interested students
