Come Learn With Us Through Our "Senior Citizen Guest Program"
Otterbein College is proud to produce students who remain life long learners and we invite those with the same enthusiasm to join us!
We offer a Senior Citizen Guest Program of learning and encourage seniors in the area to learn more about our program. Classes can be taken any quarter on our Westerville campus.
Specifics
- You must be 62 years of age. Only one course per term may be taken. No credit is awarded.
- The opportunity to attend classes is a free service Otterbein offers to the central Ohio community. The program should not be interpreted as a state-mandated entitlement program (the College is privately-funded).
- Participation is subject to approval by the Registrar, the course instructor and the Department Chairperson. The extent of participation in the class is the call of the instructor. Typically, senior citizens sit in on traditional lecture style classes in fine arts, humanities or social sciences. Classes with full enrollment or those designed for individualized instruction (such as art and computer science) are not open for senior guest participation.
- Please do not submit the registration form any earlier than 3 weeks prior to the start of the term. The deadline for submission is the Friday prior to the start of the term. The Registrar is unable to determine availability until then. The Registrar will notify you of approval or disapproval shortly after the form is submitted.
- Transcript --Your registration is not considered an audit, no tuition is charged and thus no transcript record is created.
- Parking - If you plan to park in a College lot, a parking permit must be obtained from Campus Security located at 194 W Main St (it's a house at NE corner of Main and N West St; parking is at rear off Cochran Alley accessed from N West St). There is no charge for the permit which is valid for one academic term only. Ask at that office where the most likely place to find space will be during the term. Finding a space is not always easy.
- Books -- Check with the Bookstore (823-1364), located in the Campus Center, about securing a book for the class. This will have to be purchased at your cost.
Class information may be viewed online here or you may call the Registrars Office at 614-823-1242. Registration forms should be submitted three weeks before the term starts. See the Academic Calendar for Students to check when the next quarter begins.
Hope to see you on campus!
