The Annual June Bug Jamboree
The June Bug Jamboree was started in 1997 with a group of loyal alumni in the Dayton vicinity. Their first event was held at an alumnus' funeral home backyard. Since the first year, Bill and Helen LeMay have hosted the event at their family acreage. Many of the committee members have assisted in the event from the start, with a majority of the planning from the 50's and 60's generation.
Beginning in 2008, we were successful in getting younger alumni and their families to the event. We had t-shirts for the children, fishing in the pond, and children's activities to draw in this audience. Ed Mentzer ‘58 has been the chair of this event for numerous years spearheading the catering contract, set-up, volunteers and presentations. At the event, we have had golfing, nature hikes, corn hole, and of course, lots of food. The event concludes with singing of the serenade songs and the Otterbein Love Song.
