Head coach Deb Torman begins her tenth year at Otterbein College.
The most successful coach in the history of Otterbein softball, Torman has
averaged 18 wins per season over the last nine years. She guided the Cardinals
to a school-record 25 wins and a second-place finish in the Ohio Athletic
Conference (OAC), also a school record, in 2002. Otterbein won a school-record
13 OAC games under Torman and finished second in the OAC Tournament in 2001.
Last season, the Cardinals finished at 23-17, 9-9 in the OAC.
A 1995 graduate of Alma College, Torman, ATC, earned her bachelor of arts degree
in sports medicine. She was an all-region and all-conference second baseman with
the Scots.
Upon completing her master’s degree in education at Bowling Green State
University in 1997, coach Torman began her career at Ohio Northern University in
Ada, Ohio, where she served as the assistant softball coach from 1995-97. From
there she went on to MacMurray College in Jacksonville, Illinois, where she
served as the head softball coach, head athletic trainer, senior women’s
administrator and instructor of health and physical education.
She
and her husband, Scott, and daughter, Jordan, 3, reside in Sunbury.

Tracey Cultice, Assistant Coach
Tracey
Cultice begins her fourth season as an assistant coach at Otterbein. While
coaching, Cultice completed her certification for physical education in 2005 and
is working towards her masters of education at Ashland University.
Cultice
graduated from Otterbein in 2001 with a degree in athletic training and sports
and wellness management. While at Otterbein, she was a three-year letterwinner
in both softball and soccer. Cultice comes back to her alma mater after serving
as an assistant coach for the Bishop Watterson High School varsity softball
team.
Cultice
lives in Worthington and is teaching physical education at St. Brendan
Elementary School in Hilliard.

Ashley Ball, Assistant Coach
Ashley Ball begins her first season as a graduate assistant at Otterbein.
Ball earned her bachelor’s degree in physical education from Kent State
University in 2006. At Kent State, she was a three-year starter at second base
for the Golden Flashes softball team, helping lead the team to two Mid-American
Conference (MAC) championships in 2004 and 2006, and a MAC Tournament
championship in 2006. As a senior, Ball earned All-MAC, Academic All-MAC and
all-region honors.
Ball served as head softball coach for the junior varsity team at Thomas
Worthington (OH) High School in 2007. She is a hitting instructor at Grand Slam
USA in Columbus.
Ball
is working towards her master’s degree in education from Otterbein. She lives
in Westerville.
