Connie Richardson begins her 18th season as head coach at Otterbein.
Richardson,
a 1986 graduate of Heidelberg College, ranks as the winningest coach in women’s
basketball at Otterbein, compiling a 237-200 record over 17 seasons. Her teams
have posted winning records in 12 of the last 14 seasons, and have finished
fifth or better in the Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) the last ten seasons.
Richardson is a two-time OAC Coach of the Year (2001 & 2005) and, in 2003-04,
led Otterbein to a school record 23 wins and advanced to the OAC Tournament
championship game for the first time in school history.
A
four-year starter at Heidelberg, Richardson led the OAC in scoring (20.1 ppg)
and rebounding (14.2 rpg) on her way to first team Kodak All-America honors her
senior season (1985-86). She earned honorable mention All-America honors her
junior year. The 5-10 forward collected first team all-conference honors twice
(1985-86); served as co-captain for three seasons (1984-1986); and was selected
“most valuable” by teammates in each of her four seasons.
Richardson spent three
seasons (1988-91) as a graduate assistant at Capital University and received her
master’s degree in Health and Physical Education from The Ohio State University
in December 1989. She currently teaches in the Department of Health and Sport
Sciences at Otterbein. In addition to her teaching and coaching duties, she is
the assistant to Athletics Director Dick Reynolds. Coach Richardson, her son,
Nick, 13, and daughter, Hannah, 10, live in Westerville.
Jeff Blunt
Jeff Blunt is entering
his first season as an assistant coach at Otterbein
College.
A 1985 graduate of Willard (OH) High School, Blunt
received his
bachelors of business
administration from the
University of Toledo in 1990. He
continued his educational endeavors at the
University of Kansas
where, in 1997, he earned his Master’s in Business
Administration.
With over 25 years of coaching experience, Blunt’s
coaching resume dates back to his high school days
where he served as a youth coach for both basketball
and softball. He continued to coach while pursuing
both his undergraduate degree and his graduate
degree. He served as a travel league basketball and
softball coach as well as league commissioner for
various periods of time.
Blunt has been very active with AAU girls basketball
from 2001-early 2008. During this time he has been
involved in coaching high school players. In
addition, for the past 4 years, Blunt has been
coaching at New Albany High School.
Coach Blunt and his wife of 22 years, Sandi, live in
New Albany with their children Danielle (20), Kristi
(18), Tyler (16) and Allison (14).
Andrea Hackett
Andrea Hackett begins her second season as a graduate assistant for Otterbein
College.
A native of Springfield, Ohio, Hackett earned four letters playing basketball
for Catholic Central High School before becoming a four-year letterwinner at
Wittenberg University. She spent all four years at Wittenberg working for her
head basketball coach Pam Smith in the athletic office and has worked various
basketball camps.
Hackett
graduated from Wittenberg in 2007 with a degree in early childhood education and
special education. While at Otterbein, Hackett is working towards her master’s
degree in education.
