PR Student Elected to National PRSSA Committee

March 26, 2014

Otterbein junior, Jonathan Hill, was recently elected to the 2014-15 Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA) National Committee as Vice President of Career Services.

As VP of Career Services, Hill will be assisting over 11,500 nationwide PRSSA members by connecting them with internship and job opportunities.

Hill currently serves on the 2014-15 Otterbein PRSSA Executive Board as Public Relations Director and has held various other positions including Social Media Manager, Vice President and President. His passion for what PRSSA has done for his career as a young professional is what inspired him to run for national office.

“Otterbein PRSSA is the main reason I got my very first internship experience as a sophomore. The reality of that experience proved to me the significance of what PRSSA can help young professionals accomplish and this understand is truly why I found the opportunity to run for National VP of Career Services so appealing,” Hill said.

Otterbein PRSSA Faculty Adviser, Dr. Denise Shively, has watched Jonathan grow as a PRSSA member since his freshman year at Otterbein.

“Jonathan is a leader. He works to build consensus among all constituents and then encourages action by all. He is a solid communicator, has an engaging personality, is an effective listener and engaged problem-solver. In addition, he understands commitment. He exemplifies the qualities of effective leadership and will make a positive impact on the PRSSA National Committee,” Shively said.

Hill will begin his term after attending the PRSSA Leadership Rally in Scottsdale, Ariz. at the end of May. He will then begin implementing his strategies for the PRSSA Internship Center and all other PRSSA career service initiatives.

“This entire experience has been such a whirlwind! I feel beyond blessed to have been elected to serve our 11,500 members and to work with such a fantastic National Committee. I’m already convinced my term as VP of Career Services will be the highlight of my college journey,” Hill said.
