Otterbein Hosts Integrative Studies Symposium, April 1-2

April 01, 2014

This year’s Integrative Studies Symposium, Complicating Normal: A Campus Conversation on Disability, is the first to invite the Otterbein community to consider new frameworks for understanding both ability and disability.

LeDerick Horne, a national advocate for people with disabilities and performance poet, will speak about learning disabilities in a world "beyond classification." Members of the Otterbein community will hold an open discussion on the lived experience of disability, and Lennard Davis, professor of English/Disability and Human Development from the University of Illinois at Chicago, will speak on disability identity and the way that new conversations on the value of diversity both can and cannot account for the person with a disability.

All events earn INST approved. Questions? Contact Suzanne Ashworth (sashworth@otterbein.edu) or Tammy Birk (tbirk@otterbein.edu).
