Otterbein to Present Two Choral Performances on Oct. 26

Westerville, OH—The Otterbein University Department of Music will present two choral performances on Wednesday, Oct. 26. Both concerts are free and open to the public.

The first concert will take place at 12:30 p.m. at Church of the Master United Methodist, 24 N. Grove St. All Otterbein choirs will perform for an audience of 112 students and teachers from 16 area schools who are participating in the Otterbein University Honor Choir on the University’s campus throughout the day.

The program will include various choral works, including an arrangement of the Star-Spangled Banner performed by the Men’s Chorus and Gate, Gate, a setting of a Buddhist mantra to be performed by the Women’s Chorale. The Otterbein Singers will be performing works by Benjamin Britten and Edward Elgar, along with the song Here’s Where I Stand from the film CAMP. Concert Choir will perform the “lunar soundscape” Epitaph For Moonlight by R. Murray Schafer, as well as works by Craig Hella Johnson and Moses Hogan. 

For the second concert of the day, the high school students participating in the Honor Choir will perform a culminating concert at 6 p.m. at the Church of the Messiah, 51 N. State St.

The Honor Choir concert will include pieces for men’s, women’s and mixed chorus by Handel, Stephen Chatman, Ola Gjeilo, Stephen Hatfield, Martin Shaw, Laura Farnell and Rollo Dilworth.
