Westerville, OH—Otterbein University’s Department of Music will be hosting the Athenia Chamber Ensemble from Ohio University for a recital at 7 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 6, in Riley Auditorium at the Battelle Fine Arts Center, 170 W. Park St. The event is free and open to the public.

The ensemble will present a program including modern works by composers Robbie McCarthy, Clyde Thompson, Eduardo Grau and Alyssa Morris, along with excerpts from Franz Joseph Haydn’s “London Trio #1 in C Major.”

The Athenia Chamber Ensemble is a faculty ensemble-in-residence at Ohio University in Athens, Ohio. Founding members Alison Brown Sincoff (flute), Michele Fiala (oboe) and Matthew Morris (bassoon) have collectively performed in the United States, Canada, Europe, Russia, Japan, Panama and Argentina. The trio was established in 2009. It was a featured ensemble at the 2016, 2014 and 2011 International Double Reed Society Conferences, the 2016 National Flute Association’s annual convention, and has performed across the United States from New York to Washington State. The group strives to break down the traditional formalities of the concert experience and create a more open and enriching experience that closes the gap between audience and performer. The members are dedicated to discovering additional works for the instrumentation and to promoting the composition of new music.
