Westerville, OH — The Otterbein University chapter of Phi Delta Theta fraternity was awarded the President’s Scholarship Award at the tri-province retreat held at the University of Akron on Feb. 25.

The award is presented to the chapter with the highest cumulative GPA in their respective region. Otterbein University is part of the Zeta East province. Institutions such as The Ohio State University, Ashland University and Ohio University are also a part of the Zeta East province.

“We are so humbled to have received this honor,” says Brian Hammel, chapter president. “It really shows how dedicated not only this chapter is to academics, but how Greek Life at Otterbein sets the bar high for scholastic achievement.”

The tri-province retreat is a gathering of three different regions, or provinces, of Phi Delta Theta.  Chapters from northern and central Ohio, as well as Michigan, are invited to participate. This year, the University of Akron hosted the event and provided a day full of networking, keynote speakers and recognition.

Phi Delta Theta has nearly 190 active chapters and colonies in 42 states and five Canadian provinces. The fraternity has initiated more than 250,000 men and currently has more than 160,000 living alumni. There are over 100 recognized alumni clubs across the U.S. and Canada.
