Otterbein Percussion Ensemble to Hold Jack Jenny Retirement Concert

The Otterbein Percussion Ensemble presents its spring concert at 8 p.m. on Wednesday, April 5, in Riley Auditorium at the Battelle Fine Arts Center, 170 W. Park St., Westerville.  This will be the final concert for Jack Jenny, director of the ensemble for the past 40 years. Jenny has programmed mostly his own music for this last concert, all reflective of milestones in his life as a percussionist, teacher and composer. Pieces include music written for his masters recital, his first publication, to celebrate the birth of his first child, to celebrate the retirement of his mentor, and a premiere written for the current ensemble to mark his own retirement. Jenny has invited back alumni of the ensemble from the past 40 years to join forces with the current group for one last go at Aram Khatchaturian’s “Sabre Dance,” a long-time favorite with the ensemble.
