Otterbein Community Celebrates the Holiday Season

Enjoy Otterbein's tree lighting and the City of Westerville's tree lighting on one festive evening!

Westerville, OH—Otterbein University is kicking off the holiday season with its annual Tree Lighting and Holiday Feast on Friday, Dec. 1. The tradition of a Christmas tree lighting ceremony began at Otterbein in 1961. The Tree Lighting begins at 5:30 p.m. on Towers Hall lawn, 1 S. Grove St., followed by the Holiday Feast from 6-8 p.m. in the Campus Center, 100 W. Home Street.

The evening includes many fun activities:

  • Music and carols
  • Music Ensemble by Towers Brass Quartet  
  • Holiday message by Chaplain Judith Guion-Utsler
  • Visit from Santa and Mrs. Claus 
  • Photos with Santa at the Holiday Feast
  • Activities for children

Tickets for the feast are $12 for adults and $5 for children ages 4-10 at the door. Advance tickets for $10 general and $4 for ages 4-10 can be purchased at www.otterbein.edu/Events/treelightingandholidayfeast.aspx. Make a night of it, and enjoy Otterbein’s tree lighting and feast, then head Uptown for Westerville’s tree lighting at 7 p.m. in the newly completed Civic Green of Westerville City Hall, 21 S. State Street.
