Women's, Gender, and Sexuality Studies program
Department: Women's, Gender, and Sexuality Studies

In November of 2011, the University Senate approved the renaming, reorientation, and expansion of the Women's Studies program. Otterbein is now one of 40 colleges and universities in the country to offer a Women's, Gender, and Sexuality Studies major and minor. Faculty in the program still provide a wide selection of courses that study the lived experience of women, but students may also enroll in coursework that explores the cultural construction of masculinity or the diversity of sexual identities and practices.

For many years, students at Otterbein have been asking for this more expansive curriculum in Women's, Gender, and Sexuality Studies, just as they have been asking for an opportunity to elect a major program of study in it. Now, we are able to provide both.

Please see www.otterbein.edu/WGSS for more information about the newly and creatively designed program, or contact Dr. Tammy Birk, the director of the WGSS program, at tbirk@otterbein.edu.
