Otterbein Experience Day brings students to campus from across the country

For high school seniors, seeing a university’s campus first hand is an integral part of the college decision making process. This year, Otterbein Experience Day showed students from across the country what life as a Cardinal is all about.

On March 11, 219 admitted students and their families arrived on campus for a full day of learning how Otterbein will help them find their passion and stand out from the crowd of graduates. This group of students represented 17 different states, from here in Ohio all the way to California.

“Otterbein Experience Day and our other visit day programs allow students to gain knowledge of what they will be doing in their areas of study and all the campus life opportunities available for them outside of the classroom,” said Executive Director of Admission Mark Moffitt. “It’s a great way to see everything Otterbein has to offer.”

Students had the chance to meet President Kathy Krendl and hear from current Otterbein students about their experiences as a Cardinal, like senior Biochemistry and Molecular Biology major Will King. King shared his story of presenting student research he began as a first-year student at national conferences, his leadership roles in Greek Life and all the great times he’s had being an active part of the Cardinal community.

Students and their families also learned what’s next in the enrollment process. Otterbein staff were on hand to answer any questions about paying the enrollment fee, what new student orientation is like, how registration and housing selection works, and when move-in takes place.

“Just as important,” Moffitt said, “students get to meet their peers for the first time on campus. They can have some fun in our photo booth, taking pictures with Cardy and their new Cardinal friends. Plus, there’s always delicious Schneider’s Bakery donuts, an Otterbein tradition that can’t be passed up.”

The next large visit day programs at Otterbein will be the Ohio Independent College Visit Days on June 26, 27 and 29 and Tan and Cardinal days July 14, 28 and August 4. Students and their families are encouraged to schedule a visit to campus anytime. Admission staff and tour guides are always available to show you what Otterbein is about.
