Otterbein Promise House support and donations increasing

In the spring issue of Towers, we shared with you the great work of Promise House, Otterbein’s new food and resource pantry for students. Since its launch in the spring, Promise House has experienced an outpouring of support. Here is just a sample of the donations received since opening their doors:

  • 150 loaves of Panera bread from Community Cares
  • 300 slices of pizza from a member of the Board of Trustees
  • 150 hours of volunteer service by Otterbein Staff Council members
  • 800 cans of soup donated by Bon Appetit
  • 360 pounds of food donated by Church of the Master
  • 1,500 items of school supplies donated by Otterbein faculty, staff and students
  • One freezer from the Otterbein Alumni Council
  • One refrigerator from Otterbein Greek Life

The Promise House is a student-led community resource center that serves under-resourced students. They offer services to help peers flourish including a community café, campus food pantry, referrals to community resources, peer advocacy, volunteer opportunities and educational workshops.
