Otterbein College food is managed by a company dedicated to sustainability, Bon Appetite. Some of Bon Appetite's sustainable food efforts include:

  • Free-range eggs
  • Hormone-free milk and meats
  • 15 to 18 percent of campus food is bought locally (within 150 miles) through the Farm to Fork Program, with summer menus being up to 50 percent locally grown
  • Food is served in accordance with the seasons to reduce shipping
  • Annual "Eat Local Challenge" event
  • Brochures are available on sustainable and healthy eating
  • Monterey Bay Aquarium's Seafood Watch guidelines for sustainability are used when purchasing fish
  • Pura Vida coffee is organic and fair trade certified
