America Reads

An Otterbein student offers extra reading help to second graders.

An Otterbein student offers extra reading help to second graders.

America Reads is a nationally renowned tutoring program that offers after-school help wuth reading skills to Avalon Elementary School 2nd-grade students. Otterbein students volunteer once a week to tutor their 2nd-grade partner in vocaublary, grammar, and reading fluency. Before tutoring, volunteers are trained by an Avalon Elementary school staff member to learn effective methods of literacy education. At the end of every quarter, there is a celebration to celebrate everyone's accomplishments. Join America Reads and become part of making a difference in a student's education!

America Reads meets on Mondays from 3:30 - 5 p.m. For more information or to volunteer, contact the CardinalCorps Leader Tiffany Faust.
