Tentative Program Schedule available for viewing: click here
We are pleased to announce our tentative program for the Doing SoTL Conference, Otterbein College, April 8, 2006. Our day will begin with presentations that form questions and prepare to engage in SoTL, transitioning as the day progresses into sharing work by those fully engaged in SoTL who are sharing results gathered in their classrooms. Concluding in the afternoon with advanced projects, we will look at how SoTL findings are being folded back into the curriculum, and we will focus on what it takes to support SoTL institutionally. Our keynote speaker, Stacey Lowery Bretz of Miami University, will be speaking about these stages in her own SoTL journey. We look forward to a day of stimulating ideas and engaging discussions. Please direct any additional questions to Amy Jessen-Marshall or Regina Kengla, facilitators for the conference. Amy Jessen-Marshall Regina Kengla Conference Notes: Whether you’re a veteran or a newcomer to the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL), we hope you’ll join us for a day-long conference that will bring together teaching professionals to discuss and share their research and experience in the scholarship of teaching and learning. The conference will feature Professor Stacey Lowery Bretz, Department of Chemistry, Miami University, whose publications about CER (chemistry education research) in the Journal of Chemical Education, the Journal of College Science Teaching, and the Pearson Prentice Hall collection, Chemists’ Guide to Effective Teaching, incorporate methodologies from anthropology and sociology. The conference will also include sessions featuring papers, posters, panel discussions, and workshops. We hope to publish selected conference presentations in an electronic format.
