About the Festival
The International Festival is a much anticipated annual event at Otterbein College. Its purpose is to highlight the presence of international students, faculty, and staff on campus, to raise awareness of international issues and topics, and to emphasize the importance of foreign language study.
Festival Features
Generally held in the seventh or eighth week of Winter Quarter, the festival features presentations by international students, faculty, and staff on their native countries. Faculty also speak about international topics related to countries and regions they have visited on sabbatical or under other circumstances.
The International Festival often features guest speakers who come to campus to talk on international topics of current and vital interest.
The Djun 'Kendafala' Dance Company entertained students with African dances during the International Festival. Click here to see more photos from the event.
Interested in Studying Abroad?
Otterbein students who have studied abroad are eager to share their experiences with the campus and to encourage other students to participate in this life-changing adventure. They give presentations, either individually or in groups, during the festival on their off-campus programs.
Global Village Dinner and Show
The centerpiece of the International Festival is the Global Village Dinner and Show, which features savory food from many different countries and cultures and a fashion and talent show. Otterbein students, faculty, and staff and the greater community are all invited to this fun event, co-sponsored by the International Students Association, the African American Student Union, and Sisters United.
