Registration Toolbox for Students

Course Offerings (Schedule of Classes)
Use Class Schedule in Self-Service Banner (SSB) to view course offerings for Summer Session 2009 and Autumn, Winter and Spring Quarter for the 2009-2010 academic year.  The search functions in SSB allow you to search for classes by department, day and time offered, or primary instructor.  Clicking on the course title will show you the enrollment in the class and the number of seats still available.  A link to the catalog course description will give you additional information including any required prerequisites for the course.

Course prerequisite checking will prevent students from registering for any courses for which they have not completed or registered for the listed prerequisites as defined in the College Catalog.  Some courses are also restricted to certain majors or levels which will prevent registration by students not meeting those requirements.  Refer to the catalog for information on required course prerequisites.

The Degree Audit feature is still available in CardinalWeb for Students and should be utilized as you prepare your schedule for the upcoming year to ensure you are selecting courses that fulfill the requirements for your degree.

Class Start/End Dates
The Academic Calendar for Students (which displays start/end dates) may be accessed by clicking the Calendars/News link at the top of www.otterbein.edu or by clicking the same link on the Registrar homepage, or by clicking here. Make sure you select the applicable year. Scroll down to see Weekend College and Summer Session dates.

Deadlines (Initial Registration; Adding; Dropping; Withdrawing From All Classes)
A pdf list of deadline dates for registering, adding after registering or dropping after registering may be accessed by clicking on the Deadlines link on the Registrar homepage, or by clicking here. If you find you must withdraw completely for the term, a pdf checklist of the process may be accessed by clicking on the Withdrawal Procedure link on the Registrar homepage, or by clicking here.

Exam Schedule
For Summer Session, exams are given on the last day of classes.  During the regular academic year, an 11th week is set aside for exams. The schedule for these exams may be accessed by clicking on the Exam Schedule link on the Registrar homepage, or by clicking here.

Fee Schedule (tuition and fees)
A complete list of tuition and fees may be accessed by choosing Business Office in the A-Z Index, or by clicking here.

Grades (format in which they are issued and when)
Grades are accessed via Self-Service Banner (SSB) by choosing Student Records under the Student tab and are viewable after they are recorded by the grading instructors. Information about grades including grade availability dates may be accessed by clicking the Grades link on the Registrar homepage, or by clicking here. (Please note that grades for Spring Quarter 2009 will still be accessed through CardinalWeb for Students.)

Mathematics Placement Exam
All students (except those seeking BFA or BMUS degrees) must take the Online Mathematics Placement exam to determine the appropriate course starting level for fulfilling the math general education requirement or taking higher level mathematics courses. Exam results are sent to the Otterbein email address. Information about the exam may be accessed at www.otterbein.edu/placement or by clicking here.

Refund Schedule
The refund schedule may be accessed by choosing Business Office from the A-Z Index, or by clicking here.

Wait List
Closed out of a class? You can add yourself to a closed class by choosing "Waitlisted" from the Action drop-down menu in Self-Service Banner (SSB). An explanation as to how the wait list works may be accessed by clicking on the Wait List Procedure link on the Registrar homepage, or by clicking here.
