Director's Notes

Flying back from Kansas City last night I sat next to my
new friend Gary who reminded me of our MBA
students because he was so ready for
change.
During the flight we compared some of the details of
our lives. We both have only children and daughters,
his was 2 years old, mine was 11. He was passionate
about golf, and I told him I wouldn't know what to do
with a club. And we got really going when we began
talking about the MBA.
For another two weeks Gary is employed by a large
pharmaceutical company and his sales district is so
large he's on a plane three to four days every week.
He's leaving for his new position as the VP for
Sales for a very small independent family-owned auto
parts store in Chicago. While his new job will pay
much less than what he now makes, they're giving
him equity in the business. And perhaps most
importantly for Gary, he now gets to read to his
daughter more often. He has started formulating
exciting plans to grow the store and perhaps open
other locations, and yet he knows he has still much to
learn. Now Gary says, he is ready for his MBA, and he
asks what advice I might have for him. So we talked
about finding an MBA that fits.
Like Gary, many of prospective students come to our
Information Sessions,
having arrived at a point when they're seeking a
graduate program for learning and renewal. Like Gary,
they tell me they are ready for change. I tell them to
find an MBA that fits, and that I'm glad that they're
looking at the Otterbein MBA.

Starting January 2008 MBA students will be able to
count on a schedule of courses that follows the
following predictable patterns:
MBA 600 will be offered every
quarter;
MBA Core Courses will be offered twice a
year, preferably in non-consecutive quarters;
MBA Elective Courses will be offered once
a year and elective courses will be offered every
quarter;
MBA 699 will be offered in Autumn
and Spring quarters only.
Predictable patterns for course offerings will help
students with planning ahead and scheduling their
