FacultyShah M. Hasan, Ph.D.,
MBA Director.
Shah Hasan has had a long career in higher education as an administrator and faculty member at The College of Wooster, The Ohio State University, Kansas State University, West Virginia University, Franklin University, Columbus State Community College, and now Otterbein College. He is a frequent consultant and speaker, having presented over a hundred large- and small-audience presentations, principally in the areas of leadership, faculty work, change and transition, human development, and managing organizations and movements. Hasan earned a B.A. from The College of Wooster, a M.A. from The Ohio State University, and a Ph.D. from Ohio University. His doctoral research examined the role that ritualization plays in how college faculty make meaning of their teaching lives. At Franklin University, Hasan received the Robert Bailey Distinguished Teaching Award in 2001, 2002, 2003, and 2004. In 2003, he was also listed as a recipient of the "100 Ohio Educators of Distinction" Award. Hasan is a long-time member and peer reviewer for the Academy of Management. He previously served on the Board of Trustees of the West Virginia Alliance for Women's Studies and now serves on the International Practitioner Board of the Academy for Leadership and Development (for Institutions of Higher Education), and on the Boards of Trustees of the Columbus Metropolitan Club and the American Red Cross of Greater Columbus. Kyriacos Aristotelous, Ph.D.,
The Ohio State University. Teaches the foundation course Managerial Economics. His
research interests include international trade and development and applied macroeconomics.
Bruce C. Bailey, Ph.D.,
State University of New York at Buffalo. Associate Professor of Marketing. Teaches the core course Marketing Management and the elective course Strategic Marketing. His research interests include food marketing and the positioning of private label brands, and writing case studies on marketing and strategy.
Don Eskew, Ph.D.,
The Ohio State University. Teaches the foundation course Managing in Organizations and
21st Century Leadership. His teaching and research interests include management,
organizational behavior, human resources, and organizational justice.
Marsha M. Huber, Ph.D, CPA
Associate professor of Accounting. She teaches undergraduate accounting courses in financial, intermediate, tax, and auditing. At the graduate level, she teaches a class on information systems with a focus on measuring system effectiveness. Research interests include information system use and service quality issues in the Hospitality Industry
Shirine Mafi, Ph.D., The Ohio State University.
Dr. Mafi teaches production/operations and service management in the MBA program. Her research interests include performance improvement, quality of service and human resources development.
Allen Prindle, Ph.D.,
Allen Prindle is a Professor of Economics. His research focus is urban growth issues, land use policy and farmland preservation programs.
Charles Smith, Ph.D., The Ohio
State University. Professor of Management. Teaches the foundation
course Managing in Organizations and the general component course Business Ethics.
Jiten Ruparel, Ph.D., The Ohio State University. Teaches strategy and the consulting project (capstone). Research interests are collaborative strategies, strategic alliances and corporate affinity.
Henry C. Smith, III, Ph.D, CMA, Virginia Commonwealth University.
Teaches Management and Cost Accounting courses at the undergraduate level and also Managerial Accounting and Forensic Accounting in the MBA program. Teaching and research interests include cost accounting systems, managerial accounting, and forensic (fraud) accounting, to include detection and prevention.
Dennis J. Whalen, Ph.D., Syracuse
University. Teaches Financial Management and Investment in the MBA program. His research interests include derivative securities, market microstructure, earnings announcements and capital structures.
Otterbein MBA Adjuncts Michael Colburn
Michael Colburn is President of Breakthrough Performance Innovations, Inc., a professional services firm that assists organizations to implement healthy change to achieve and sustain improvement on total performance. Michael’s firm designed and implemented a workforce development program for a client that was awarded the Governor’s Workplace Learning Award in 1997. He has facilitated numerous executive team retreats and helped create management systems to execute plans and sustain improvements. Dr. Colburn teaches BADM 630, Production/Operations Management at Otterbein College. He also teaches Organization Development & Change Management for Ashland University. He has taught Industrial Practice in Systems Analysis & Design and Introduction to Total Quality Management at the Ohio State University. Bill Harper
Bill Harper is a full-time faculty in the Mathematical Sciences department at Otterbein College. Statistics, simulation, and operations research are what he enjoys teaching the most. Before moving into academia in 1997 at Otterbein, Bill worked in engineering/statistical research and consulting for 20 years and traveled to over 25 countries including spending a considerable time in Saudi Arabia. His BS is computer engineering, MS statistics, and PhD industrial & systems engineering. Bill is a licensed engineer, a certified quality engineer, a certified reliability engineer and a Fellow of the American Society for Quality. The two MBA classes he teaches are BADM 660 (Quantitative Methods) and BADM 661 (Computer Simulation). Angelo Mazzocco
Angelo Mazzocco is the Chief Information Officer of Progressive Medical, Inc. Progressive Medical, Inc. is a nationwide, managed care and health care cost containment company. It coordinates care for workers' compensation, auto-no-fault and personal injury protection cases. Progressive Medical, Inc. provides medical equipment, medical supplies, pharmacy management, health services and ancillary services, such as outpatient rehabilitation, transportation, translation and radiology. Its nationwide network of pharmacies and equipment providers offer prompt service, detailed follow-up and cost containment reports to insurers, employers and third party administrators. Prior to coming to Progressive in January 2006, Angelo was the vice president and chief information officer of The Dispatch Printing Company and Affiliates. The Dispatch Printing Company and Affiliates include 14 privately held companies. Angelo earned his bachelor's degree in mathematics and computer science from Indiana University of Pennsylvania. He earned a master's degree in business administration, marketing and information systems from the University of Dayton. He has served as an adjunct faculty member of the Ohio State University 1991 – 1997 and Otterbein College since 1997. An active leader in the Columbus community, Angelo co-founded the CIO Forum and CIOhio CIO Symposium events, which are a collection of more than 40 and 200 respectively of corporate-level technologists who network and share information related to the alignment of technology solutions for solving business problems. Angelo serves on the Otterbein College MBA Advisory Board, the Ohio Information Technology Alliance Board, Gladden Community Settlement House Board, and The Ohio State University Digital Union Advisory Board. He also chairs the GroundWorks Group board of directors, a non-profit organization created to help non-profit groups with technology related issues. Angelo is a past recipient of the 2003 TechColumbus President's Top Contributor to the Advancement of Technology (TopCAT) award, 2005 TopCAT Executive of the Year, 2005 TopCAT Large Technology Team Leader and the 2005 Volunteer of the Year for GroundWorks Group which is an annual award bestowed upon an individual with exceptional leadership and personal commitment to the central Ohio community.
Maria Hruby Moore, Ph.D.
The Ohio State University in Human Resource Development and Adult Education and M.B.A. - Case Western Reserve University in Human Resource Management. Her research interests include distance training and education; career development, and evaluation. She is an adjunct faculty member who is employed as a Research Specialist for The Ohio State University's Center on Education and Training for Employment.
David L. Nickel, Ph.D.
Dr. Nickel has served in leadership positions in the private sector, the government sector, and in academic administration. He has a diverse background of experiences having worked for Goodyear, Lockheed Martin, the United States Enrichment Corporation, Rohm and Haas Chemical Company, Hooker Chemical Company, and Nalco Chemical Company. In the academic sector he worked at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee (at a Director level) and at Arkansas State University (at a Director level). For over 20 years, Dr. Nickel was the senior trainer for the Goodyear and Lockheed Martin Corporations, teaching leadership and management development courses to senior management, middle management, and first line management. He also worked as a supervisor and as an internal organizational development consultant. Currently Dr. Nickel is active in consulting and speaking while focusing on areas about which he feels passionate: leadership, management, organizational development, organizational behavior, team building, problem solving, motivation, and presentation skills. He earned his BA from Berea College, M.S. from University of Kentucky and Ph.D. from Indiana University. Dr. Nickels is also a Distinguished Toastmaster (DTM). David Riepenhoff
David Riepenhoff is an attorney with the Columbus law firm of Downes, Hurst & Fishel. He received his law degree for Capital University Law School in Columbus, Ohio. He received a Bachelor of Arts from Otterbein College with a major in Business Administration and a minor in Political Science. He is licensed to practice law in the States of Ohio and South Carolina and before the United States District Court for the Southern District of Ohio. David focuses his practice on Federal and State Court Litigation, labor and employment law, workers' compensation, unemployment compensation, collective bargaining, public records and open meetings, and public sector agency administration. He also conducts training and seminars throughout Ohio on various labor and employment law topics. David is a member of the Children's Hospital Development Board. Chuck Rothenbush
Chuck Rothenbush teaches BADM 660, Quantitative Methods for Business Decision Making. He also teaches Probability and Statistics, and Statistical Concepts at Franklin University. Early in his career he taught for five years in the School of Business at Miami University. Chuck earned a BS, Electrical Engineering and an MBA from the University of Cincinnati. Additionally, he completed all PhD coursework and comprehensive exam requirements for the College of Business. Since 1981, Chuck has been employed by Kforce (formerly Source Services), an Information Technology Consulting and Staffing firm. Earlier, he was employed by IBM. Christopher Stankovich, Ph.D., P.C.C.
Christopher Stankovich is a licensed clinical counselor and graduate of The Ohio State University, with his doctoral studies in Clinical Counseling/Counseling Psychology. He is the Founder of Champion Athletic Consulting, a sport, health, and wellness consulting firm. Dr. Stankovich has taught at Otterbein between the Psychology and Business departments since 2000, and is a regular consultant to numerous national media outlets, including USA Today, ESPN, and ABC World News. In addition to his private practice and teaching responsibilities, Christopher is a featured colunist for Business First newspapers and writes a monthly column ("Peak Performance"), offering tips and suggestions to business leaders on the topics of performance enhancement, team dynamics, organizational strategies, leadership, and health and wellness. Dr. Stankovich teaches Leadership for the 21st Century and Managing in Organizations for the MBA program at Otterbein. William Steele William Steele is a partner in the law firm of Cloppert, Latanick, Sauter & Washburn. In 1983, Bill graduated from The Ohio State University College of Law. Following five years with the Ohio Attorney General's Office, he joined his current law firm where his practice focuses on labor and employment law, with an emphasis on representing public school teachers. Bill has extensive trial experience in both the state and federal courts. He has also argued appellate cases before the Ohio Supreme Court and the United States Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit. Bill has served as an adjunct faculty member at Otterbein since 1999. He has team taught a Senior Year Experience class entitled "Media and the Law" and also served as the individual instructor for the MBA level class "Legal Environment of Business." Gregory S. Sullivan, Ph.D., MBA
Dr. Sullivan teaches Financial Management (BADM 645) in the Otterbein MBA program and is also a full-time faculty member in the Department of Health and Physical Education where he teaches Sport Management. Prior to moving to the Columbus area in 2002 to complete his doctoral studies at The Ohio State University, Dr. Sullivan spent close to two decades on Wall Street. Initially a commodity trader, Dr. Sullivan spent the latter part of his career in commodity finance dealing primarily with gold mining firms around the globe. During his tenure on Wall Street, Dr. Sullivan was employed by a number of high profile financial firms such as Citicorp, Deutsche Bank, Prudential Securities, Inc., and Dresdner Kleinwort Wasserstein. He earned his M.B.A. from Seton Hall University and his B.A. from Brooklyn College. Saeed (Sam) Tabriz, Ph.D.
Dr. Tabriz received his Ph.D. degree in applied economics from the Ohio State University in 1985, with concentration on microeconomic theory and quantitative methods. He received his M.A. degree in economics from the University of Kansas in 1980 and his B.S. degree in economics from the National University in Tehran, Iran. Dr. Tabriz has broad business background and extensive teaching experience at graduate as well as undergraduate levels. Since 1991, Sam has taught a wide range of courses in economics, finance, and quantitative methods at Ohio Dominican University, Ohio State University, Columbus State, Capital University, and Otterbein College. In addition to his teaching interests, Sam presently is the president of General Acquisitions Inc., an e-commerce firm specializing in acquisition and liquidation of bankrupt/overstock retail inventories. Dr. Tabriz also engages in consulting projects involving financial planning and retirement benefits. Dean Taylor
Dean Taylor is the Group Product Manager at OTC Healthcare/Abbott Laboratories, a company dedicated to discovering, developing and marketing innovative health care solutions across the spectrum of health care. Dean has been with Abbott Labs for seven years. His responsibilities include overseeing all consumer products. Dean received his Bachelor of Science from Northern Kentucky University and his MBA from Xavier University in Cincinnati, Ohio. He teaches both undergraduate and graduate marketing courses at Otterbein, including BADM 640, Marketing Management, and BADM 675, Strategic Management. Raymond J. Thomson
Mr. Thomson is a marketing executive with more than 20 years experience in product marketing, development and creative design at well-known consumer products companies, including The Scotts Miracle-Gro Company, Rubbermaid & Huffy Corporation. His specialties include the development of marketing strategy, using consumer insights to create products with a clear and sustainable competitive advantage, and developing breakthrough advertising that establishes brands and builds consumer loyalty. His primary experience is focused in the arena of creating innovative consumer durables and packaged goods products within for profit enterprises. He is also experienced in marketing products within the non-profit business-to-business healthcare sector. Mr. Thomson teaches BADM 640 Marketing Management. He earned his BA from the University of Dayton and his MBA from Otterbein College Tom Voight
Tom Voight has over twenty-five years of information technology, management, business, project, and organizational development experience. Tom's strengths include strategy formulation, facilitation, business process/application analysis, design, programming, project management, and leadership, on a wide variety of applications. He possesses multi-platform background in mainframe, midrange, and PC environments. He has strong communication, team building, relationship, quality assurance, and organizational development skills. He has taught and created a variety of business and technology courses for training and at the college level and currently teaches at Otterbein the BADM 685 Managing Information Technology, BADM 691 E-Business, and BADM 699 Consulting Project Teams: Strategy Formulation and Implementation. Denton S. Whitney
Denton S. Whitney is Manager of the Department of Biomedical Informatics at The Ohio State University Medical Center. Prior to working at The Ohio State University, Denton was an Associate Attorney at the firm Downes, Hurst & Fishel, where he practiced labor and employment law. Denton earned his MBA at The Ohio State University, where he majored in consulting, received the school's highest award, and won the award for "Best Q&A" in the Big 10 Case Competition. Denton earned his law degree at The Ohio State University, where he also earned his Certificate in Dispute Resolution, served as Business Editor of the Ohio State Journal on Dispute Resolution, received awards for his research in alternative dispute resolution, and won first place in the Negotiation Competition at The College of Law. He received his bachelor's degree in economics and English from Brigham Young University. Before earning his graduate degrees, Denton worked as Accounting Manager at Paradigm Medical Industries. He is an adjunct professor of Negotiation in the Masters program in Conflict Resolution at Antioch University-McGregor. Denton teaches Legal Environment of Business (BADM 691-1G) and Communications & Negotiations (BADM 680) in the MBA program at Otterbein College. |
