Please forward each issue of the e-newsletter to your fellow Otterbein alumni and friends. You tell two friends, and they'll tell two friends, and so on, and so on...

    Dear Alumni & Friends,

The e-newsletter has a new name! We received 39 suggestions from 19 alumni. The Alumni Council carefully and thoughtfully reviewed all the entries. It was difficult, but they made their decision. And the winner is (drum roll)...Nancy Everett Hafer '75! As you can see above the e-newsletter is now called "Cardinal Connection." Nancy will receive a gift basket full of Otterbein goodies, as well as the honor of seeing her e-newsletter name on the banner of each edition.

Many thanks to all of these alumni for entering the contest: Stephen '66 & Karen Fischer '68 Moeller, Don Mowrey '64, Mike & Judy Pohner Christian '61, Mark Savage '71, Cheryn Alten Houston '73, Tracy Martin Quinter '89, Jan Dowdy Granger '69, Janet Tressler Davis '82, Doug MacCallum '78, Beth Payne Sanders '91, Patricia Jean Fox '95, Bev Easterday Krall '60, Jennifer Morgan Flory '95, Bruce Turner '67, Les Mokry '47, Martha Trudeau '85, Charles Walcutt '68 and Allan Leonard '53.

The "Alumni Out & About" section of this month's newsletter has many photos from our summer events. Many of these events were planned by Otterbein Alumni Clubs. We are excited about the connections growing among the alumni and with the College. Over the next few months we will focus on identifying the goals of alumni clubs and set a course for the future so these 'Cardinal Connections' will continue to enrich your lives and the future of Otterbein.

    Happy reading,

    Becky, Bonnie & Laurie

    Alumni Online Directory Update
The Office of Alumni Relations has received a number of queries about the launch date for the new alumni online directory. This is good news and bad news. The good news (for us) is that you are eagerly anticipating the launch of the directory. The bad news (for you and us) is that the unveiling of the directory is on hold.

While testing the new system we experienced difficulties with the software; i.e., glitches, gremlins, ghosts in the machine...you get the picture. We are working diligently with the software vendor to correct these issues. Once we are satisfied that you will have a good experience with the directory then it will be launched.

In the interim, if you need directory-related information, please contact the Alumni Office. We will happily provide assistance. Thank you for your patience and understanding.

New Residence Hall for Fall Quarter
There is a new home for students living on campus this fall. Known as The Suites, the new residence hall is located in the heart of the campus north of the Campus Center and east of Memorial Stadium. The hall is a $9.7 million three-story suite style building that will house 174 students. It features kitchen facilities, a computer lab and a laundry room. According to Vice President for Student Affairs Bob Gatti, "This is the first residence hall specifically designed for sophomore students. It gives us the opportunity to focus on the sophomore experience and provides an outstanding option for second year students," he said, adding, "The addition of 174 beds gets the college closer to our strategic goal for housing at least 60 percent of our students on campus."
