Honorary Alumnus Award
Peg Harmon
Peg Harmon Peg Harmon has been a part of the Otterbein community since she moved into her house next door to the Country Club fraternity house 34 years ago. Whether it's volunteering for community service projects, providing a willing ear and sympathetic advice, or just giving friendly greetings on her daily walks, Peg and her two bulldogs, Moe and Ms. Charlie, have become fixtures on campus.

Peg received her Masters from OSU in American, World, and Ethnic Studies. She taught for nearly 20 years at Columbus South High School, a vocation that she loved, until her health forced an early retirement. She wanted to continue to learn and help others in retirement, and Otterbein was the place to do it.

For many years, Peg has let students live in her small extra bedroom free of charge. At least 20 students from every ethnic group, religion and sexual orientation have lived with her. All she requires is that they demonstrate love and kindness. Peg has also vigorously defended diversity on campus, and worked to raise awareness of the need to accept others.
