Talk about Everlasting Otterbein Pride! Homecoming 2008 was outstanding! The campus was decorated; 500 attended the Bonfire; the parade was outrageous; over 900 folks ate at the tailgate; alumni showed their home businesses; walkers and runners raised over $600 in support of St. Jude Children's Hospital; 200 guests attended the Athletic Hall of Fame luncheon; the Class of 1983 celebrated their 25th reunion; hundreds visited the Pi Beta Sigma House, celebrated with Pi Kappa Phi, and courted Lambda Gamma Epsilon; the bookstore was jammed; the stadium was filled to capacity; WOBN celebrated its 60th anniversary; and over 150 voices sang in the concert to celebrate 150 years of choral excellence. The Office of Alumni Relations extends specials thanks to the Service Department, Student Affairs, Student Groups, Institutional Advancement, Bon Appetit, the Homecoming Committee, and to the many individuals who made this a Homecoming to remember.

Make plans NOW to come home for Homecoming next year...October 24, 2009. It's Otterbein football vs. Capital, the 100th Anniversary of the OC Marching Band, the 25th anniversary of Otterbein Christian Fellowship and that's just the start of the fun we have in store for YOU!

There is a jack-o-lantern on this issue's banner, but do you know what's around the bend? (No...we're not referring to the election.) The holidays are coming! Let's face it. It's been a rough year so let's get in the spirit! Send us your holiday and family photos and we will post them on our website in November and December.

Send your photos to alumniinfo@otterbein.edu with Holidays! in the subject line. Ho Ho Ho!

A Public Service Announcement from Your Alma Mater... Cheerleader graphic

During this election season all citizens should exercise their right to vote. Although every election may not rise to the ranks of the nightly newscasts, there are certain contests that deserve to be mentioned in your alumni e-newsletter.

To what are we referring? It is time for YOU to vote for Coach Joe Loth '91 as the Liberty Mutual Coach of the Year! Fellow Cardinal Citizens, it takes just a few clicks to tip your hat to Otterbein's head football coach as he bravely leads your Cardinal football team onward to victory during Otterbein's best season in 47 years.

"We were delighted to see my granddaughter's wedding announcement in the current (Cardinal Connections); however, the surnames were switched somehow. My granddaughter's maiden name is April Hofstetter and Shawn's name is Brehob. It was a joy to be able to be present and also to be back in Westerville for such a happy occasion.

Phyllis Nelson Reinheimer '44

Thanks for notifying us of this error, Phyllis. It has been corrected in the September online version. It is also our pleasure to feature April and Shawn (left) as our Cardinal Connection couple in this month's issue.
