CardinalOtterbein Launches New Logo
It represents the legacy and tradition of Otterbein through iconic Towers Hall.
It represents Otterbein and its ability to warmly embrace those who join us.
It symbolizes the gateway - and the openness for which Otterbein has been known.
It is cardinal red.
It is tan.
It is the new logo!

Otterbein's new logo was officially launched February 15 at Logo Fest in the Campus Center. Taryn Burkley, daughter of Mandy Corriveau Burkley '93 thought the Cardinal looked very huggable in his new sweatshirt!

At Your Service
Otterbein students have a tradition of providing community service. With help from Otterbein's Center for Community Engagement, women of the Greek community participated in Sisters in Service: Service with Heart Plunge on February 18. The students did crafts, mailings, and other necessary activities for Otterbein's community partners.

The Greek community recently learned that their Up 'Til Dawn Letter Writing Campaign during the Fall '05 quarter raised a total of $45,500 for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Memphis, TN. This was the largest amount of money ever raised by an Ohio college or university for the charity.

To promote local AIDS awareness the Face of AIDS Senior Year Experience 418 class organized and raised the necessary funds to exhibit three panels of the AIDS Memorial Quilt in the library in March.

Alumni -- let's "Plunge" in and help out
Alumni are invited to participated in the annual Spring Community Plunge on April 22. In celebration of Earth Day service activities will focus on the environment . (more)

YOU can make a difference!
A message from Jennifer Westbrook '01, Director of Annual Giving

Otterbein students depend on your generous support to the Annual Fund. Tuition covers only 72% of each student's total education cost. We need, and count on, the support of alumni to help make up the other 28%! Gifts to the Annual Fund help with ongoing expenses to supplement tuition dollars with scholarship awards, faculty development, library book purchases and facilities and equipment upgrades.

Annual Fund gifts helped you during your Otterbein years; now is a good time to consider giving back. You can contribute to the Annual Fund by clicking on Make a Gift Online or by calling 614-823-1400. Thank you for your support!

Kudos to...
President C. Brent DeVore
who was recently elected Vice Chair for Investment on the Board of Directors for the Council of Independent Colleges.

Tracy Benner, Director of Residence Life, received the Distinguished Service Award from the Ohio Association of Student Personnel Administrators/Ohio College Personnel Association (OASPA/OCPA.)

Peggy M. Ruhlin '79, Otterbein College Trustee, will be inducted into the Ohio Foundation of Independent College's Hall of Excellence on March 29.

Kyle Williams '07 received the Undergraduate Student Leader Award from OASPA/OCPA for his leadership and contributions to the student affairs area.

Construction Update
Photo of a woman signing the beam Construction on the new three-story residence hall continues. On March 16 faculty, staff, and students were invited to "make their mark" by signing the final ceiling beam prior to its installation. The $9.7 million structure will accommodate 174 students in suite-style rooms. It is expected to open in Fall 2006.

Renovations began on the 33 Collegeview Road property. Once the first phase of renovations is complete the Art Department will relocate from the Batelle Fine Arts Center. It is anticipated that classrooms will be ready for use in Fall 2006. The second phase of renovations will conclude in the Fall of 2007 and will provide new space for the Communication Department including WOCC television, WOBN radio and the Tan and Cardinal newspaper.
