scored three times in the first inning and coasted to an 11-1 win over
third-seeded Heidelberg (26-15) in the opening round of the Ohio Athletic
Conference (OAC) Tournament in Westerville.
Right-handed pitcher
Mike Eisenberg, a junior from Coral Gables, Fla. (Bullis High School), went
eight innings for the Pioneers, scattering four hits and striking out 10. The Pioneers (33-8)
out-hit the Student Princes 14-4 and held a 5-0 advantage until Heidelberg
catcher Tyler Tocco, a junior from Dublin (Coffman), belted a fifth-inning solo
home run to left-center field. The Pioneers responded
with a pair of runs in the sixth, and added four more in the seventh to seal the
victory. Pioneer first baseman
Jarrod Klausman, a senior from Altoona, Pa., finished the day with three hits,
including an RBI triple in the seventh.
