Recap

Mount Union scored six times in the final three innings to secure an 11-9 victory Sunday morning over third-seeded Heidelberg in a game that began Saturday, but was suspended by rain in the bottom of the eighth inning.

Heidelberg (26-16) cut the lead to 10-9, scoring two runs in the bottom of the eighth, but fell short after Mount Union added an insurance run in the ninth.

Mount Union starting pitcher Tommy Kerr, a junior from Pickerington (Central), earned the win, allowing seven runs in 6-1/3 innings of work. Nic Carucci, a senior from Macedonia (Nordonia), worked 2-2/3 innings to earn his third save of the season.

Each Mount Union starter had at least one base hit, with six Raiders recording multiple hits. Designated hitter Andy Warner, a sophomore from North Canton (Hoover), hit a two-run triple in the top of the eighth that broke up a ballgame tied at five. Warner finished the game with 3 RBI.

The victory advances Mount (23-16) to a 9:30 a.m. match-up with second-seeded Marietta.  The winner will advance to face Otterbein in the Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) Tournament championship, scheduled to begin at 12:30 p.m.
