Recap

The second-seeded Marietta Pioneers kept Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) Tournament championship hopes alive, knocking off top-seed and host Otterbein, 12-5, Sunday afternoon in Westerville.

Marietta and Otterbein lock horns once more at 4:05 p.m., with the winner earning an automatic bid to the NCAA Regional Tournament.

Pioneer starter Jason Baumler, a freshman right-hander from Crownsville, Md. (Old Mill), earned the victory, tossing nine innings of six-hit baseball. Baumler recorded four punch-outs en-route to recording his eighth victory of the season.

Marietta (35-9) roughed up Otterbein starter Jeremy Williams, a freshman from Grove City, scoring three runs in the first inning, and three more in the second.  The loss drops Williams' record to 4-3.

Pioneer right fielder Tony Piconke, a sophomore from Clinton Twp., Mich. (Clintondale), collected three hits, including a three-run homer off Otterbein reliever J.J. Mathews, a sophomore from Hilliard (Darby). Piconke finished the game with three RBI and scored three runs.
