Recap

Top-seeded Otterbein defeated second-seeded Marietta, 5-4, in extra innings to win its second straight Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) Tournament championship Sunday at Fishbaugh Field.

Otterbein right fielder Jerry Tulga, a junior from Reynoldsburg, scored the winning run from third base on a sacrifice fly from center fielder Pat Conner, a sophomore from Columbus (Bishop Watterson High School), in the top of the 12th inning. Tulga singled to lead off the inning and advanced to third base on a single from first baseman Bobby Wright, a junior from Grove City (Westland). Right-handed pitcher Trevor Horn, a junior from Groveport (Groveport-Madison), pitched the final two innings for the win.

Marietta, fighting its way back out of the loser’s bracket, defeated Mount Union, 12-5, and Otterbein 12-5, earlier Sunday to force a decisive game seven in the double-elimination tournament.

Otterbein receives an automatic berth in the NCAA Division III Tournament.
