ACADEMIC PLAN

1. ATTENDANCE REPORT / GRADE REPORTS
Three weeks into each semester we will issue an attendance report to all new players to the program and all At-Risk Students. At-Risk students are those who are on probation.

You will take this report to your professor to sign. You have one week to have it completed. We want to know if you are going to class. Very rarely does a student who goes to class do poorly in college if he is going to class. On the report will be a comment section for the professor and a phone number for the professor to contact the football office. If you are not doing well in the class you will be required to go to a tutor.

Six weeks into the semester we will issue another attendance / progress report. This report will see how you are doing following your mid-term tests. If you are not going to class you will be required to see a tutor.

2. INDIVIDUAL ATTENTION
You will meet with your position coach during the season concerning (1) the attendance report, (2) mid-term grades, (3) possible need for tutors.

3. TUTORS
All players who have received poor progress reports will be required to sign up for a tutor in the Academic Support Center on the second floor of the library. Coach Hocker will coordinate this process with Ellen Kasulis (Director). All players may sign up for a tutor at any time if they feel they need help in a class. The number to the Academic Support Center

4. RECOGNITION
Players will be recognized for academic excellence after each quarter. For
receiving a GPA of over a 3.0 for the quarter they will receive a certificate and their name will be posted as a scholar-athlete. For receiving a cumulative GPA of over a 3.0 they will receive a T-shirt at the beginning of the fall for the previous school year.

5. ACADEMIC PRIDE BOOK
This book contains a detailed process of managing your time, schedules, and ability to be prepared each academic quarter.

Academic Requirements

If you are not in good academic standing you will first be put on probation, second suspended from school and third dismissed from Otterbein. If you know exactly what you need to stay in school or keep your financial aid it increases your chance of succeeding. We want to make sure every player has A PLAN.

Good Standing
A student who maintains the minimum cumulative grade point average on a 4.0 scale as required on the chart below is in good academic standing.
Hours    Cumulative GPA
1-20      1.00
21-30    1.40
31-50    1.70
51-65    1.85
66-270  2.00

Probation
Academic Probation occurs when a student's cumulative grade point average is below the minimum levels established on the chart above. Students placed on Academic Probation -are required to meet the academic requirements of their probation and be in good standing within two quarters.

Suspension
Suspension occurs when a student earns less than a 2.0 term grade point average while on Academic Probation. A student will also be suspended when failing to gain good standing in the prescribed period. The first time a student is suspended, the student may apply for readmission after remaining out of school for at least one quarter. A student suspended for the second time must remain out of school for at least one year before applying for admission Credits earned at another school while a student is under academic suspension cannot be applied toward graduation at Otterbein- All readmission applications must be submitted to the Office of Admission and acted upon by Academic Council. Other information or steps may be required prior to consideration for readmission as determined by Academic Council. Readmission is not guaranteed.

Dismissal
Dismissal occurs when a student is suspended for the third time.

Academic Appeals
Through the Academic Council, which is a standing committee of the College Senate, an avenue for appealing academic policies is provided all students. Details regarding the appeal. process are available from the Office of Academic Affairs. Minutes of past Academic Council meetings are on file in the Library.
