Financial Aid

Every year you must meet the following standards to qualify for financial aid at Otterbein.:

1. Good Academic Standing

2. Fill out a FAFSA form every year

3. Standard Academic Progress

4. Scholarship Renewal minimums


1. Good Academic Standing

Minimum Grade Point Average
An Otterbein student who maintains the minimum cumulative grade point average on a 4.0 scale as required on the chart below is in good academic standing.

2. FAFSA Renewal Form
All currently enrolled students must file for Financial Aid (FAFSA) every year to qualify for financial aid. Otterbein College has a preferred April 1st deadline or last chance May 1st deadline for returning students. The FAFSA can be filled out on line after January 1st. (We will mail out FAFSA worksheets during January to all returning players parents)

3. Standard Academic Progress(SAP)
Students who fail to make satisfactory academic progress are subject to the loss of federal financial aid. Satisfactory academic progress is defined as achieving earned credit hours in a least two-thirds of all credit hours attempted. Courses in which IP's, R's and W's are received are considered attempted credit hours. Students who fall below the defined standard for satisfactory academic progress will be warned in writing- Students who receive a warning will have to be in compliance with the defined standard within two quarters or federally-funded financial aid will be forfeited. Warnings are issued as a courtesy students must assume full responsibility for monitoring their own satisfactory academic progress. The College reserves he right to refuse registration to students who are failing to make satisfactory academic progress toward their degrees

4. Scholarship Renewal
If part of your financial aid package includes the President's Scholar, Otterbein Scholar, Battelle Scholarship and/or Bridge Scholarship you must end the year with a cumulative GPA of 3.0 after the spring quarter each year to continue to receive this part of your financial aid package. Other scholarships and grants including the Dean's Awards, Otterbein Grants, Ohio Choice Grant, Federal Pell, etc. Will continue as long as you are in good academic standing and have met academic progress (SAP).
