Head Coach Gerry D'Arcy

Gerry D’Arcy begins his fifth season in charge of the Otterbein men’s tennis program.

“We have excellent indoor and outdoor facilities and a demanding non-conference schedule, complete with a full slate of matches during our Florida spring break trip,” D’Arcy said. “Increasing efforts will be made to provide personal technical instruction to our players on as regular a basis as possible.”

In 2005, Otterbein men’s tennis surprised many by advancing all the way to the Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) tournament final and finishing second in the conference.

D’Arcy has been at Otterbein for 19 years and is best known for building a national-caliber men’s soccer program. His soccer teams have been ranked in the top 20 nationally on many occasions, and finished second in the nation in 2002.

A native of London, England, D’Arcy completed his undergraduate teaching qualifications at prestigious Loughborough University in England and his master’s degree at Kent State University.

Assistant Coach Daniel Dodson

Daniel Dodson, a 2003 graduate of Otterbein College, begins his third season as an assistant at his alma mater. Dodson spent the 2004 season as an assistant with the Cardinals before moving onto Shawnee State University where he coached women’s tennis from 2004 to 2006.

Dodson played collegiate tennis at both Otterbein and Eastern Kentucky University, where he was awarded the Ohio Valley Conference Academic Medal of Honor. He was a two-time first team All-OAC selection for Otterbein, and was an OAC champion at first doubles in 2002. Dodson was a two-time Academic All-OAC pick.

He graduated from Otterbein Magna Cum Laude in 2003 with a bachelor of arts degree in political science. He is considering attending law school in the fall.

Dodson, who lives in Dublin, serves as a teaching pro at the The Racquet Club of Columbus.
