Cards Sit Fourth After Round One of the NCAA Championships
LINCOLN, NEB.--Guilford College shot a 299 on Monday morning to take the early lead at
the NCAA Division III Men's Golf Championships at Firethorn Golf Club in Lincoln, Neb.
Methodist College finished four strokes back at 303 for second place after
the first of four rounds, while Oglethorpe University is third at 307.
Otterbein College and Rhodes College are tied for fourth at 308. Host
Nebraska Wesleyan University and Skidmore College are tied for sixth at 309, just 10 stokes behind the leader.
Individually, Nathan Logan from the University of La Verne shot a 72 on
Monday afternoon to take a one-stroke lead. Jon Deines from Nebraska
Wesleyan, Zach Fuller from St. John Fisher College, Andy Miller from
Otterbein and Mike Stiller from Skidmore are tied for second at 73.
Guilford's Jeff Osberg and Colin Clark, the 2005 individual champion, are
tied for sixth with two others at 74. The Quakers won last season and also
in 2002, the last time Firethorn and Nebraska Wesleyan hosted the Div. III
Championships.
