Cards Share 8th Place After Round Three of the NCAA Championships
LINCOLN, Neb. — Nebraska Wesleyan University used its depth on Wednesday and
finished with the lowest third-round score (292) to take a four-shot lead
heading into the fourth and final round at the NCAA Division III Men's Golf
Championships being played at Firethorn Golf Club.
All five Prairie Wolves shot between 72 and 75, and four of
NWU’s players are among the top 20 individuals. Meanwhile the University of
Redlands held onto second place with a 297 and Guilford College, the team leader
after day one and two, stumbled on the back nine and fell to third place in the
standings with a 302.
The individual leader is Stephen Goodridge from the
University of Rochester. Goodridge (216) shot a 68 on Wednesday and is +3 for
the tournament. He leads Nick Obie from Redlands by one stroke, and Oglethorpe
University's Danny Swanick, who led after the first two rounds, is another shot
back at 218.
Alex Balog from Huntingdon College is fourth at +6, while
John Jennison from Rhodes College and Josh Werland from Texas Lutheran
University are tied for fifth at +7. Nick Bova from Methodist College is seventh
at 221 followed by a logjam of eight players tied for eighth at 223.
Ohio Wesleyan University shot 301 and vaulted from 10th
place into a tie for sixth, while Allegheny College leapfrogged five teams into
a tie for eighth place with a score of 299 on Wednesday.
