2004 NCAA DIVISION III MEN'S GOLF CHAMPIONSHIPS

INDIANAPOLIS---The NCAA Division III Men's Golf Committee has announced the teams and individuals selected to participate in the 2004 NCAA Division III Men's Golf Championships.

The championships will be held May 10-13, at the PGA of Southern California Golf Club of Oak Valley in Calimesa, California, and will be hosted by University of Redlands.

A total of 120 participants will compete at the 2004 championships. Three teams were selected from each of the six regions. The committee then selected five at-large teams nationally. Therefore, in addition to the first three teams selected in each region, there are also three at-large selections in the south region and two at-large selections from the central region. Five individuals were also selected to compete.

In the 2003 championships, Averett University came from nine strokes back on the final day of competition to win the school's first NCAA championship in a team sport by shooting a 1-over par 285 in the closing round at Dornoch Golf Club in Delaware, Ohio. Their overall score of 1,175 was five strokes better than second place finisher Wesley College. Averett's Janne Mommo shot a 3-under 281 to win the individual title.
