Otterbein Poised to Resume Name of Otterbein University
The Otterbein College Board of Trustees unanimously voted at its February 6 meeting to change the name of Otterbein College to Otterbein University effective fall 2010. The name reflects the increasing array of graduate and undergraduate programs offered at Otterbein and its future direction for growth through its strategic planning initiatives.


Student Art Gets Second Chance at "The Reject Show"
Otterbein College art students will be displaying their “rejected art” at the 2010 Reject Show, an affectionately titled annual exhibition of Otterbein student art sponsored by Starving Artists, Otterbein’s student-led art organization. The Reject Show runs Feb. 8-March 11 at the Java Central Coffee Shop, 20b S. State St., Westerville. An opening reception will be held from 5-7 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 9. Recyclemania Comes to Otterbein
Otterbein College will again join over 600 colleges and universities from the U.S. and Canada for Recyclemania, a competition on college campuses to raise awareness for waste reduction and recycling efforts. The campus will participate in recycling initiatives and recycling-themed activities through March 27, 2010. Otterbein’s effort is spearheaded by the student-run environmental group, Plan-It Earth.
Otterbein College Appoints New Board Members
The Otterbein College Board of Trustees appointed three new trustees on Jan. 19, 2010. The new trustees are Cheryl Herbert, president of Dublin Methodist Hospital; Alec Wightman, partner in the law firm of Baker Hostetler; and Larry Brown, minister and member of the West Ohio Conference of the United Methodist Church. Otterbein Art Professor Selected to Attend Atlantic Center for the Arts Artist-in-Residence Program
Otterbein College Assistant Professor of Photography and Digital Media Takeshi Moro has been selected to attend the Atlantic Center for the Arts Artist-in-Residence as an associate artist. Moro will attend the program in New Smyrna Beach, Fla., from Feb. 15 through March 7. Read more.

Otterbein College theatre warms up the winter with a production of the Pulitzer Prize-winning comedic play You Can’t Take It with You, which runs Feb. 11-13 in The Fritsche Theatre at Cowan Hall. Read more.


Otterbein Hosts Lecture from Former White House Press Secretary
Otterbein will host a lecture by 2010 Pack Distinguished Lecturer and former White House Press Secretary Dee Dee Myers titled “Women Should Rule the World” at 11 a.m. on Feb. 24, in Cowan Hall. A book signing and reception will follow in Fisher Gallery on the first floor of Roush Hall. The event is free and open to the public. Learn more about Dee Dee Myers.
