OTTERBEIN OFFICE OF ETHNIC DIVERSITY PRESENTS THEATRICAL
AND MUSICAL EVENTS

Fannie Lou Hamer was sick and tired of being sick and tired! "The police beat me until my body was hard, 'til I couldn't bend my fingers or get up when they told me to. That's how I got this blood clot in my eye - the sight's nearly gone now. My kidney was injured from the blows they gave me on the back."

The Otterbein College Office of Ethnic Diversity, in conjunction with the Enrichment Series and Campus Programming Board, presents mZuri and her one-woman historical play, The Fannie Lou Hamer Story at 7 p.m. on Friday, April 4, in Riley Auditorium in the Battelle Fine Arts Center, 170 W. Park St., Westerville. The event is free and open to the public.

Born in Paterson, New Jersey, mZuri, has performed across the United States and abroad. She lived briefly in Paris and Italy, where she trained as a singer. She trained as an actress at HB Studio in New York City. Upon her return from Europe, she was cast as Lucy in the film Sankofa. A writer since childhood, mZuri has performed in a variety of venues including colleges and universities. In this one-woman show, mZuri presents Fannie Lou Hamer, up close and personal. This presentation in word and song captures a little known but very important moment in history and lays it at your feet.

On Saturday, April 19, voices will sing out at the Office of Ethnic Diversity Spring Gospel Festival at 4 p.m. in the Otterbein College Campus Center, 100 W. Home St., Westerville. The annual festival features the Otterbein Gospel Choir, poetry, dance and other special guests performances.

The event is free and open to the public.
