This fall, Otterbein College will offer a new business course to non-business majors, to create a more well-rounded educational experience and prepare students for the business side of non-business careers.
This new survey course will give undergraduate non-business majors an overview of the essential functions of business operation. Recent events in our country's business history are making it more important than ever to have an understanding of the components of business operation regardless of a student's choice of undergraduate major, from a visual or performing arts major who might open a studio after graduation to a foreign language major who might choose to start a translation service.
BADM 510: Business Essentials will be available beginning in September 2009. Topics include introductions to accounting, finance, economics, business planning, human resources, strategy, marketing, international business, and management. After completion of this course, non-business majors will have a better understanding of the basic rudiments of business and the general components that impact business decision-making. This course counts towards bachelor's degrees only. Credits do not count towards master's degrees.
