DANCE 2009: TO EACH HIS OWN

Dance 2009: To Each His OwnThe Otterbein College Department of Theatre & Dance presents Dance 2009: To Each His Own, the latest installation of the College's annual dance extravaganza. The show will run March 5-8. All performances will be in the Fritsche Theatre at Cowan Hall, 30 S. Grove St., Westerville. The opening night performance on Thursday, March 5, begins at 7:30 p.m. and is followed by a reception. The Sunday matinee on March 8 begins at 2 p.m. The other performances begin at 8 p.m.

The annual concert will feature fabulous dance in styles ranging from Ballet to Tap to Modern choreographed by our own talented faculty, students and special guest, Otterbein alumnus Dan Knechtges '94. Choreographer for Broadway hits including The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee and Xanadu, Knechtges returns to campus to work with Otterbein College students to create a special concert piece.

Dan Knechtges is a choreographer and director working in theater, opera, television, film and music videos. Broadway credits include Xanadu (Tony Award nomination best choreography), 110 in The Shade and The 25th Annual Putnum County Spelling Bee. Dan had the rare occurrence to have all three shows running simultaneously on the Great White Way in 2007. Dan also choreographed the Off-Broadway incarnation of The 25th Annual Putnum County Spelling Bee at Second Stage, which earned him a Lucille Lortel Award nomination. Internationally, he choreographed the Berlin smash hit Der Schuh des Manitu.

The production team includes Artistic Director Stella Hiatt-Kane, Costume Designer Marcia Hain, Lighting Designer Rob Johnson and Sound Designer Erin VanWagner. Choreographers include Stella Hiatt-Kane, Kathy Bartelt, Scott Brown, Jon Devlin, Maria Glimcher, Tammy Plaxico, Sue Saurer, Heather White-Cotterman and Dan Knechtges.

Tickets are $15 each and can be reserved by calling the Otterbein College box office at (614) 823-1109. The box office is open 1-4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, and one hour prior to performances. It is located in Cowan Hall, 30 S. Grove St., Westerville. NOTE: Not all material will be suitable for children.
