OTTERBEIN COMMUNITY SERVICE PLUNGE FOCUSES ON RETIRING PRESIDENT'S COMMITMENT TO SERVICE
Diggin' with DeVore will celebrate the retiring president's 25 years of service

Otterbein College will host Earth Week 2009 from April 20-25. The highlight of the week will be the Diggin' with Devore Spring Community Plunge on April 25, which will celebrate retiring President C. Brent DeVore's 25 years of commitment to community engagement at Otterbein.

Diggin' with DeVore Spring Community Plunge will send students, alumni, faculty and staff into the Westerville and Columbus communities to perform a day of service, involving over 20 sites and 300 participants. Registration begins at 8:30 a.m. in the Campus Center, 100 W. Home St., Westerville. At 9 a.m., the College will host a speaker and President DeVore will plant a bush to kick off the day of service.

Current sites include: McVay Elementary School, Hanby House, Goodwill Columbus, Humane Society of Delaware County, McKendree United Methodist Church, Annehurst Elementary School, United Methodist Children's Home, Genoa Middle School, Dreams on Horseback, Habitat for Humanity, Hawthorne Elementary, Alcott Elementary and the Westside Free Store.

Activities will include outdoor cleanup projects, such as a neighborhood clean up and cleaning debris on riding trails, building a composite bin, setting up for a community event and sorting items for Free store.
