OTTERBEIN SUMMER THEATRE OPENS SEASON WITH OHIO PREMIERE OF
DON'T TALK TO THE ACTORS

Otterbein Summer Theatre opens its season this month with the Ohio premiere of Don't Talk to the Actors, which runs June 25-28 and July 9-11 in the Campus Center Theatre, 100 W. Home St., Westerville.

Written by Buffalo-born and raised Tom Dudzick, Don't Talk to the Actors is a hilarious comedy which depicts the story of a young Buffalo playwright who is thrust into the high stakes, big money, ego driven world of Broadway after being discovered by a big-time producer. Following the premiere at Buffalo's Studio Arena Theatre, The Buffalo News called the show, "drop-dead, scream-out-loud, tear-wrenchingly funny." Come see how the best-laid plans go awry when the people involved only think of themselves and turn to bribery, temptation and chaos to get what they want.

Often referred to by theatre critics as "the Catholic Neil Simon," Tom Dudzick has created a series of semi-autobiographical comedies that have played successfully in theatres from New York to Los Angeles. His plays have broken the box office records at Buffalo Studio Arena, Pittsburgh Public Theatre, Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park, the Repertory Theatre of St. Louis and Chicago's Northlight Theatre.

Dudzick's first play, Greetings! was produced off-Broadway at the John Houseman Theatre. Dudzick went on to write a comedic semi-autobiographical series of plays about growing up Catholic in Buffalo called the Over the Tavern Trilogy, which includes Over the Tavern, King o' the Moon and The Last Mass at St. Casimir's. He then wrote a commissioned play about a parochial school novice who takes religion into her own hands, entitled Hail Mary! before writing Don't Talk to the Actors.

Individual Tickets for Don't Talk to the Actors cost $22 each. Half Price Student Rush tickets are available one hour prior to performances with a valid school ID. The opening night performance on Thursday, June 25, begins at 7:30 p.m. The Sunday matinee on June 28 begins at 2 p.m. All other performances begin at 8 p.m.

The box office is open 10 a.m.-5 p.m., Monday through Friday, and one hour prior to performances. Tickets can be purchased by calling the box office at 823-1109 after June 15, 2009.
