
COMPOSER MERKOWITZ TO PERFORM FACULTY RECITAL AT OTTERBEIN
The Otterbein College Department of Music will present a faculty recital by Jennifer Bernard Merkowitz, assistant professor of music theory and composition, at 7 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 18, at the Battelle Fine Arts Center’s Riley Auditorium, 170 W. Park St., Westerville. The performance is free and open to the public.
Merkowitz is joined by guest artists Kimberlee Goodman, flute, who will be performing the world premiere of Phyllotaxis for flute and electronics; Stephanie Henkle, soprano, who will sing a set of songs entitled Let Evening Come with the composer at the piano; and a choral ensemble composed of Otterbein students, who will perform selections from Mass of Joyful Hope. Also on the program are two works for electronic media: The Cardiac Dance—The Spirals of Life, electronic music to accompany a ballet; and Hallucination for fixed stereo audio.
