MUSIC EVENTS PART OF CELEBRATION AT OTTERBEIN COLLEGE

Presidential Inauguration Concert
Groups from the Otterbein Department of Music will celebrate the inauguration of Kathy A. Krendl as Otterbein’s 20th and first woman president in a concert at 4 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 23, at Church of the Master United Methodist, on the southeast corner of Main and Grove Streets in Westerville. The performance is free and open to the public.

The program will feature performances by the Concert Choir; Opus One; Saxophone Quartet; student percussionists Ruthann Elder and Kari Sims; musical theatre students Andrew Betz and Caitlin Scott with Dennis Davenport, accompanist; and student pianist Timothy Kincer. Alumni Cardinal Marching Band 100th Anniversary Homecoming Concert
The Otterbein College Marching Band will celebrate both Homecoming and its 100th anniversary at a concert at 8 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 24, at the Rike Center, 160 Center St., Westerville. The performance is free and open to the public.

A band of over 100 returning band and auxiliary unit alumni will perform under former and current Otterbein band directors. Conductors scheduled to appear are Jeff Boehm ’82, Jeff Kunkel, Russ McCutcheon, Jim Morgan, John Orr ’79, Jim Shackson ’61, Gary Tirey H’90, Margaret Underwood, Don Wolfe ’71, and Michael Yonchak. They will reprise classic Otterbein standards such as Ol’ Man River and the beloved Otterbein Love Song. The 2009 Cardinal Marching Band, under the direction of Michael Yonchak, will also perform on the concert, reliving the music and energy that has made it a crowd favorite throughout the season.
