OTTERBEIN SUMMER THEATRE ANNOUNCES 2009 SEASON

Don't Talk to the Actors (Ohio Premiere!)
By: Tom Dudzick
Directed by: Doreen Dunn
June 25-28 & July 9-11 (no performances during the weekend of July 4th)

Don't Talk to the Actors, written by Buffalo-born and raised Tom Dudzick is a hilarious comedy that depicts the story of a young Buffalo playwright who is thrust into the high stakes, big money, ego driven world of Broadway after being discovered by a big-time producer. Following the premiere at Buffalo's Studio Arena Theatre, The Buffalo News called Don't Talk to the Actors, "drop-dead, scream-out-loud, tear-wrenchingly funny." Come see how the best-laid plans go awry when the people involved only think of themselves and turn to bribery, temptation and chaos to get what they want.

Altar Boyz
Book By: Kevin Del Aguila
Music & Lyrics by: Gary Adler & Michael Patrick Walker
Conceived by Marc Kessler & Ken Davenport
Directed by: David Caldwell
July 16-19, July 23-26, & July 29-August 1

Hailed as "high-octane entertainment" (Talkin' Broadway), Altar Boyz tells the holy inspiring story of five small-town boys - Matthew, Mark, Luke, Juan and Abraham - trying to save the world one screaming fan at a time. Their pious pop act, including lyrics like "Girl You Make Me Wanna Wait" and "Jesus Called Me On My Cell Phone," worked wonders on the Ohio bingo-hall-and-pancake-breakfast circuit. But when fate brings them to New York, will the boyz take a bite out of the forbidden apple? With angelic voices, sinfully spectacular dancing and a touching story, Altar Boyz is destined to rock the masses of all denominations!

The Last Night of Ballyhoo
By: Alfred Uhry
Directed by: Ed Vaughan
August 6-9 & August 13-15

Set in the upper-class German-Jewish society of Atlanta, Georgia, in December 1939, this comedy-drama features Adolph Freitag, owner of the Dixie Bedding company and his sister and nieces, who eagerly await Ballyhoo, a lavish cotillion at their restrictive country club. So assimilated that they have a Christmas tree in the parlor, this Jewish family is forced to examine prejudice within their own religious community when an attractive, eligible bachelor, Joe Farkas, enters their lives.

Season ticket packages are $65 each. Individual tickets go on sale beginning June 15 and are $22 for Don't Talk to the Actors and The Last Night of Ballyhoo, and $27 for Altar Boyz.

The Otterbein Summer Theatre Box Office and all performances will be located in the Campus Center Theatre, 100 W Home St., Westerville. Opening night performances begin at 7:30 p.m., Sunday matinees are at 2 p.m., and all other performances begin at 8 p.m.

The Otterbein Summer Theatre Box Office will officially open on June 15, 2009. Box Office hours will be Monday through Friday from 10 a.m.-5 p.m., and one hour prior to all performances.
