Welcome Class of 2012!

Disability Services

The Office for Disability Services (ODS) at Otterbein College is here to ensure that all qualified students with disabilities have equal access to an education and to campus life. This access is provided to students through the provision of legally mandated (Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 and the Americans with Disabilities Act) services, accommodations, and advocacy. ODS provides services to students with physical disabilities such as visual impairments, hearing impairments and mobility impairments as well as students diagnosed with learning disabilities, Attention Deficit Disorder/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), Traumatic Brain Injury, Autism Spectrum Disorders, and psychiatric disorders.

The services and accommodations that can be provided include:

  • Testing accommodations (including extra time, distraction reduced space, reader/scribe, computer)
  • Note taking assistance
  • Books in alternative format
  • Priority registration
  • Housing accommodations
In order to receive assistance, students should submit current documentation to the Disability Services Coordinator as soon as possible so that accommodations can be made for placement tests and fall quarter classes. However, students can submit documentation and request accommodations at any time during their college careers but accommodations cannot be utilized retroactively.

For more information on documentation criteria and available accommodations, see our website or contact the Disability Services Coordinator at 614-823-1618.
