Fast Facts for New Students Regarding Student Mail

Your Campus Address

  • You are assigned a campus mailbox if you are a full-time traditional student, commuter or resident, or a non-traditional resident student.
  • Your campus mailbox is identified by a 5-digit SMC (Student Mail Center) number.
  • Once assigned, your SMC number will appear as your School address on CardinalWeb for Students (under Personal Information/Addresses).
  • The correct mailing address for any incoming student mail including packages is:

  • Do not use Box or PO Box in your mailing address as it creates delivery problems with the Post Office and package delivery services

    • Mailbox and Package Information

    • Student mailboxes are located in Towers Hall LL adjacent to the Copy Center and Mail Services Departments.
    • All Student mail is delivered to the mailroom. Mail is not deliverable to residence halls/apartments or any other Otterbein building address.
    • Receipt of student packages or oversized mail results in a package pick-up slip distributed to the SMC mailbox as well as email notification.
    • As mail is sorted and distributed by the SMC number, please be sure to provide your address as indicated above to all pertinent correspondents and businesses.
    • UPS, DHL, FedEx Express, FedEx Ground, and FedEx Home delivers to Mail Services Monday through Friday.
    • Incoming Otterbein U.S. mail is picked up from the Westerville State Street Post Office twice weekday mornings and once Saturday morning.
    • Outgoing U.S. mail is picked up from the mailroom by the Post Office between 3 and 4 pm Monday through Friday.
    • Package slip and ID are required for package pick up.
    • Early arrivals to campus can obtain their mailbox combination in the Mail Services Department, Rm. 43 Towers Hall LL.
    • A computer to access your SMC/combination numbers is located above the mail drop boxes at the end of the Mail Services hallway.
    • Your SMC number and combination will also reside on your Otternet home page once school begins.
    • All student mail is automatically forwarded to the permanent address for winter and summer break unless student requests otherwise.
